This morning, and this afternoon, Ezekiel has remained stable. His heart rate is still tachycardia, but they are managing it with medication. The goal is to eventually wean off the inotropes that are helping his heart and blood pressure. He’s had a high temperature since yesterday, which is being managed with ice. This is typical right after a procedure. They’re keeping an eye on it and hoping it does not turn into anything else. Infectious diseases team saw him this morning and will follow him through till his round of antibiotics is done on Sunday. The hope is that the broad-spectrum antibiotics have done their job and helped eliminate the infection in his lungs. His white blood count cell is still somewhat high. However, they are keeping an eye on that as well.
The entire team is hopeful. The goal is to pass the 24 hour mark without an incident and move into day two of chest closure. His fluid out put had slowed down and his pd drain needed to be flushed again by the surgical team. This has been a source of frustration as it drains fluid from his belly but when it blocks it works against his blood pressure and heart rate. It has been blocking at least twice a day and this has been caused by fibrous tissue being expelled from the belly.
His left leg has the arterial line in the groin and received an ultrasound to rule out clots. His toes are starting to turn purple. Please pray for this to get better. He’s received an echocardiogram to ensure all is working as it should 20 hours post chest closure. Please continue to pray for stability and management of medications to go well. For no new infections and for no infections.
