A step forward
Today was a good day for Zeke although it had its challenges. His art line was removed and there was the hope that his central line would be removed as well unfortunately it will have to stay in place for now. His electrolytes are low and the only way to give iv doses of some electrolytes is through the central line. It’s still unclear why his electrolytes specifically his calcium and potassium are still very low and below the acceptable numbers. It is clear that balancing his electrolytes will be helping his kidneys. The hope is to get good numbers tomorrow with all the supplementation they are giving him. A piv line has been placed in his foot for extra access with the hopes of not using it for very long.
His feeds are increasing which is another good thing however he’s struggling with throwing up and excessive mucous and fluid build up in his chest and lungs. The hope is that with occupational therapy's help with the secretions it may help decrease the throwing up. Please pray for the ability to cough the secretions up and out and for parts of his lung that are somewhat collapsed to recover.
He has been weaned off the sedation meds and all the inotropes however he is going through some withdrawal symptoms. The hope is that introducing another medication will help with the wean. His morphine is being weaned next and we are hopeful that by the end of the week we will have weaned off all IV medications. Please continue to pray for balanced eletrolytes, no throwing up for Zeke and rest for all of us.
Pslam 100:4-5
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forvever, and his faithfulness to all generations."
