Cath Lab and MRI Day

July 28th, 2022

We had our first cath lab yesterday to determine what type of surgery Zeke can have for the next stage. Unfortunately things did not go as smoothly as we had hoped and Zeke suffered a minor stroke and had issues with the anesthesia. We've been admitted and he is on oxygen with close monitoring of his vitals. His heart rate was quite high for the first half of the evening with constant monitoring. I was quite exhausted by the time 1 am hit having starting my day at 5am. God has been so present and has definitely carried us through but please pray for us. For endurance, energy and most importantly for healing. Zeke has not had a good rest in the last 24 hours which is concerning for a babe his size and with his heart condition. He has retained a lot of fluid from the IV fluids given and now his heart is working a little harder than it should. They've administered a high dose of a diuretic to help flush the fluid and take the pressure off his heart. Our hope is for better feeds and sleep today (although I'm not sure how good naps will occur in the hospital). I have a hymn that I've clung to through this entire day titled "He will hold me fast". It reminds me of Psalm 91:14-15 that says:

"Because he holds fast to me in love I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honour him."

I pray this provides comfort for those who may be going through hard trials as it has for me; to be reminded of our Lord's promise and faithfulness to keep us and hold us fast when the tides of life's unexpected hardships sweep over us.
