Cath Lab Results
December 11, 2022 5:20pm
Zeke had his cath lab yesterday and they were able to go in with a balloon and open up the clots in his SVC and innominate veins. This was so encouraging to hear because Zeke can now start to diurese his upper extremities better and get adequate blood flow to his SVC going into his lungs. Today we worked on going down on his sedation and he was a little more awake. It’s a bit hard to watch because he is still intubated and when he cries there is not much that I can do to comfort because of all the leads and tubing but to talk to him. This is the beginning of triaging his dosage of medication, how much to come off, is he in too much distress or can he ride it out and settle after weaning and being handled.
This next phase of the recovery will be hard on all of us but it’ll be more difficult for Ezekiel. This is going to be a hard valley to go through with him but I’m comforted in knowing we do not walk it alone. God promises to be with us and I know he is our strength. There’s a song I’ve been singing to him when he cries and it’s from Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
This verse and song have reminded me to continue to bring all things before my Heavenly Father and trust he cares for Zeke more than Ben and I could and loves him so much. He knows what he needs and when. Please continue to pray that this next phase of the recovery Zeke is able to handle well, and will progress in a positive manner.
