Day of Surgery
Ezekiel is scheduled for his first open heart surgery Friday, March 18th. The doctors and all the staff who are the dedicated team for single ventricle babies have been amazing. The passion, care and concern they show to parents and babies is a blessing. As soon as surgery is complete Ezekiel will head to the Cardiac Critical Care Unit (CCCU). It's a unit dedicated to the care of infants and children with heart disease.
Please pray for the different elements involved in the surgery. The surgeon and anesthesiologist who will be caring for Ezekiel came by to give me a rundown of what to expect and what things could potentially look like for Ezekiel in surgery. It's a lot to take in. Please pray for strength and energy for me as I am here trying to retain and understand the different elements. And for Ben as it is hard for him to not be with us. For comfort, strength and endurance as he cares for our other three kiddos, runs a practice, and takes care of renovations.
It is expected to be a 4 hour surgery, but they usually don't give any firm time. He went into surgery around 7:30 am (Ontario time). We will try to keep you all updated when he gets out of surgery.
Thank you for your continued support to us through this journey.
