Evening Rounds Update:
November 18, 2022 6:06pm
This will be a little more detailed to give you specific areas to pray for. Zeke is relatively stable but still quite fragile. The second time in his chest gave the team a better understanding of what was going on with his heart. Because of the prolonged time under bypass, Zeke has diastolic and biventricular dysfunction. His heart was stopped for a long time and is having a hard time restarting with a proper rhythm and functionality that allows for his entire body to get proper blood profusion. To help with some of these issues the goal is to gently reduce the heavy inotropic medications that he is on.
Neurology will continue to monitor after finding a subdural hematoma in one of the brain scans. Zeke will be getting blood products to help with clotting and prevent the hematoma from getting bigger.
Ultimately the goal is to slowly come down on the heavy support meds and continue monitoring his brain scans to ensure there is no seizure activity and the hematoma does not get bigger. Once these goals have been reached they can prescribe diuretics to help Zeke get rid of the fluid build up he has which will enable them to close his chest. For now the chest will remain open.
I’ve been encouraged by so many scripture passages that have been sent to me. This is one that I am currently standing on.
Psalm 46:1-3
God Is Our Fortress
[1] God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
[2] Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
[3] though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah.
Thank you for the continued love and support that you have showed our family through prayers, scriptures sent, messages and phone calls. We are so grateful for the body of Christ.
