Homeward Bound

January 26, 2023

Thank you all for the prayers and encouragement along this journey with Ezekiel. I got the all clear to go home to Calgary. It really did not feel like this day was coming but here we are. Zeke’s care has been transferred and he’ll be followed by a few clinics back home all geared towards helping him on his recovery journey.

There are a still a few things we need prayer for. Please pray for the ng tube wean to go well. As we get connected with occupational therapy and the GI clinic our hope is that he will begin to orally feed and we avoid the route of the gtube insertion which would involve a surgery.

Pray for his blood clots to reduce and diminish. We had our last ultrasound at Sick kids yesterday and the clots are still there and not as small as we would like them to be at this stage. They are not ideal for his new physiology so we trust God with this.

Pray for Ezekiel’s development. Because he spent the better part of two months intubated and sedated. There are certain milestones he has missed but again we are trusting he will catch up.

Lastly pray for us as a family. Ben and I are exhausted. God has carried us through this hard season and continues to do so. We are thankful for his grace and mercies. As we seek to get back to a routine that sees us establish some normalcy for all the kids; pray for our marriage, our finances, the kids schooling and lastly that we would continue to cling to the one who holds us fast in all things.

My dear brother Rylan shared this scripture in a family chat when we shared the news of our going home and it is certainly fitting to share here.

Psalm 107:1–9

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,

for his steadfast love endures forever! Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west,

from the north and from the south. Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in; hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in. Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,

for his wondrous works to the children of man!For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.”

Amen and amen!

As a colleague to the Allison family in the local legal profession- I’ve followed the journey you’re on and prayed. Zeke is going to catch up in his development- wise eyes. Always ask for help. As women we tend not to and we should. As a couple- I hope you get lots of support. Hugs.

Please keep us updated as you have some wonderful prayer warriors here in Lindsay both at Cambridge Baptist church and St Andrews Presbyterian church.
