Praise and Prayer

1:00pm ~

Breathing tube is out! This is a huge step in the right direction and we are hoping Ezekiel continues on this path. It's day 3 post-op (since he had his surgery) and there are a few goals that still need to be met. Zeke is still quite puffy and his lungs are wet. The goal is to get the fluid out of his body. He is off blood pressure meds which is good but still has a ways to go regarding being weaned off the other medications he is is on. Pray that the meds they are giving him to help flush the excess fluid would work well. Pray that he tolerates the small feeds that he is starting to get as his gut has been inactive for a while. Also he needs to pass a poop. His tummy is getting a bit distended. We continue to be so grateful for the prayers and support.

4:00 pm ~

Ezekiel has an infection. His poop just came up bloody. This is an indication that he has what's called Necrotizing enterocolitis. This presents a whole host of problems which they must deal with right away. They have x-rayed and are waiting to do an ultrasound to confirm the Necrotizing enterocolitis, but it is likely that. And if by some chance it isn't, either way it is bad and is evidence of an infection that must be treated.

This means he will no longer feed and will have nutritional supplements administered via feeding tube. Please pray that the course of antibiotics they begin will take effect and that no other complications arise from this infection. A reminder that Zeke has no spleen, so infections are life threatening.

We know and trust that baby Ezekiel is in the Lord's hands. We pray that he would give wisdom to the doctors and strength to his little body to be able to fight this infection. We know he is able.
