Rejoicing the small victories
Zeke has come off dialysis for now and they are hoping he can stay off depending on how much he pees. We're hopefully that he'll stay off dialysis and his kidneys had an opportunity to rest. How much he is able to pee and the less puffy he looks will be great indicators of progress. The head CT scan did not produce any evidence of new bleeds or expansion of the current bleed which is good. Presently the goal is to keep the status quo, keep peeing, maintain good blood pressures and slowly come down on the supports for both the heart and blood pressure. For now until he becomes stable all conversations regarding the surgery needed to optimize his current anatomy are on hold. The goal is to see how he is when he is stable after all this to determine what they need to do surgically.
We are so grateful that we had an opportunity for the kids to visit with Zeke today. Thankful for the support the hospital provides through their child life specialist and grateful for God's wisdom in guiding Ben and me on answering some of their hard questions. Please pray for continued stability and a successful extubation trial tomorrow morning.
